GENERAL INFORMATION

DESIGN

CSK Series (One-Way Bearing) The CSK model freewheel is a sprag type clutch integrated into a 6200 series ball bearing (except sizes 8 and 40). It provides you with a one way clutch, and eliminates the need for a ball bearing. It gives a high degree of freewheeling accuracy while utilizing a minimum of space. The CSK model freewheels can be used in backstop, overrunning or indexing applications.

CSK freewheels have the outer dimensions of type 62 ball bearings. On the side of the balls,
sprags are mounted. The sprags and balls are arranged in a plastic cage to hold them. The
CSK freewheels have the same characteristics as ball bearings and additional bearing is not
necessary.

TEMPERATURE

The admissible operating temperature is -40 F (-40 C) to 212 F (+100 C). Peaks up to 248 F
(+120 C) are acceptable for short periods.

TORQUE TRANSMISSION

The transmission of rated torque of these units is ensured by a press fit into a rigid outer
housing with N6 tolerance, and onto a shaft with n6 tolerance. The initial bearing radial
clearance is set at C5, and is reduced if using the press fit as specified.
One race may be glued. If both races are to be glued, performance will be reduced or
a C3 bearing clearance will be necessary.

MAXIMUM SPEED

The maximum allowable speed with standard grease is shown in the table below. The speeds
are for operation in a clean environment within the specified temperature range.

CSK series one way (direction) bearing consists of a standard ball bearing, in-built special snap block and cage, widely used in mining machinery, washing machine, hydraulic machinery, printing machines, textile machinery, conveyor systems.

Three basic applications of freewheel-clutches

	Indexing elements: Indexing elements change an oscillating to an intermittent rotary motion. An example could be a ratchet or a stock-feeding device.
	Backstops: Backstops prevent self reversing due to load condition when the machine is not activated.
	Overrunning clutch: Freehweel-clutches are also used as overrunning clutches to maintain driven unit activated even during slowdown, or in the case of two speed operation (by independent motors) to switch to the higher speed by passing the slower. The most notorious application is the bicycle.

CSK-P and CSK-PP series are available upon request. CSK-P features a keyway on the inner race; while CSK-PP features a keyway both on the inner race and outer race. These units are often referred to as freewheels, sprags, overrunning, backstop or oneway clutches depending on their application. BB Series clutches have bearings characteristics and dimensions of #62 type ball bearings. This design provides easy handling and installation. Idea for general applications BB-1K is similar to BB series but it has a keyway in the inner race. BB-2K has key on both inner & outer races.
